ENGLISH CEMETERY
Stone memorial to the tragic sinking of the British ship "The Serpent" off this coast.

Originating from the shipwreck of the "The Serpent" in 1890, it is the only cemetery which is only dedicated to shipwreck victims. Today it is part of the European Route of Singular Cemeteries.

The origin of this cemetery goes back to the shipwreck of the Royal Navy ship " The Serpent" in 1890, in which only three of its 175 crew members survived, although before that, the victims of the Iris shipwreck in 1883 were buried there, and later, in 1893, also those of the Trinacria, both British ships that had been wrecked in the vicinity. It is the only cemetery in the world that houses only shipwreck victims. It is located in a place of great beauty from where you can admire the rampant dune of Monte Branco. It is currently included in the European Route of Singular Cemeteries, declared a Cultural Itinerary.
